God of War: Laufey announced, sequel starring Faye set for future release

Santa Monica Studio announced a new entry in the God of War franchise titled God of War: Laufey. The game will shift the focus to Faye, Kratos' wife, as the protagonist and is set in a post‑life realm called “Everywhen” where mythologies intersect. A 20‑minute gameplay trailer released alongside the reveal showcases large‑scale enemies such as the flying tiger Byakko and hints at a return to the series' epic, hack‑and‑slash roots.

Industry journalist Jason Schreier reported that a release date has not been confirmed, but the title may arrive as late as 2027. The announcement has sparked discussion among fans who hope the sequel will restore the colossal boss battles and grandiose scale that some felt were missing from recent installments.
