God of War Laufey collector box faces criticism over design and spoilers

The upcoming God of War Laufey, scheduled for release on February 16, is facing scrutiny regarding its collector box contents. Fans have expressed dissatisfaction with the 149.99 Euro edition, specifically citing the size and design of the included Faye statue. The resin figure stands approximately 20 centimeters (eight inches) tall, which some collectors argue is too small for the price point compared to previous PlayStation editions.

Additional criticisms involve the statue’s integrated lighting feature, which requires a permanent USB connection. Users have noted that the necessity of a visible cable may detract from the aesthetic of a decorative piece. Furthermore, the collector box has been criticized for lacking a physical game disc or a download code.

Beyond physical product concerns, the collector box’s Oracle Deck has inadvertently provided narrative clues. Players have used the 51-card deck to decode upcoming mythologies and characters in the game. While previous reveals highlighted Egyptian and Mongolian deities, new cards suggest the inclusion of sea-related characters, potentially spoiling elements of the game’s character lineup before launch.
