God of War: Laufey Confirmed for Physical Disc, Likely 2027 Release

Santa Monica Studio announced on its X account on 10 July 2026 that the upcoming God of War title Laufey will be released on a physical disc. The brief statement – “We can confirm God of War Laufey will be available on disc.” – directly addresses fan concerns after Sony revealed it will cease production of new PlayStation discs in January 2028. Because a disc version will no longer be possible after that date, the confirmation implies the game must launch before 2028, most analysts expect a 2027 release, with rumours pointing to February or March 2027. Laufey follows the new protagonist Faye (Laufey) through the afterlife realm “Everywhen”, is exclusive to the PS5, and was first shown at the June 2026 State of Play.
