Godrej AMC appoints Bijon Pani as CIO of Alternatives

Godrej Asset Management Company (Godrej AMC), a subsidiary of the Godrej Industries Group, has appointed Dr. Bijon Pani as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for Alternatives. In this role, Pani will oversee the firm’s Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) strategy and portfolio, while also leading quantitative investment and research initiatives.

Pani brings over ten years of experience in quantitative investment strategies, factor-based research, and portfolio construction across both Indian and global markets. His professional background includes leadership roles at Motilal Oswal AMC, NJ Mutual Fund, and IDFC AMC, as well as experience with Barclays Capital and Eden Financial.

Kunal Karnani, MD & CEO of Godrej Wealth & Asset Management, stated that the appointment is part of an effort to strengthen investment processes and capabilities as the alternatives market evolves. Pani noted that the timing is significant given the current stage of evolution in India’s alternatives market.
