Godwitt Group and HDFC Capital launch workforce housing platform in India

Godwitt Group and HDFC Capital have launched an institutional workforce housing platform targeting India’s industrial and manufacturing hubs. The initiative aims to develop, own, and operate more than 100,000 beds to provide professionally managed accommodation for frontline manufacturing and industrial workers.

The platform seeks to address critical social infrastructure gaps as India expands its manufacturing capacity under the National Manufacturing Mission. This mission aims to increase manufacturing’s share of GDP to 25 percent by 2035 and create 143 million jobs. According to NITI Aayog, the country will require approximately 25 million workforce housing beds over the next decade.

By prioritizing safety, hygiene, and functional comfort, the partnership intends to reduce workforce attrition caused by long commutes and inadequate living conditions. The project combines long-term institutional capital with industrial real estate expertise to support workforce mobility and inclusive industrial growth.
