Godzilla franchise expands with new merchandise in Japan

The Godzilla franchise is launching new consumer products in Japan, including themed school backpacks and collectible wafers.

Dinosaur Base, a specialty retailer in Fukui Prefecture, has announced a collaboration to produce Godzilla-themed randoseru (school backpacks) for students entering school in 2028. The series features three designs: Godzilla in matte black, King Ghidorah in gold, and Mechagodzilla in silver. The backpacks incorporate textured surfaces to mimic monster scales and armor, and they are priced at 93,500 yen each. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on January 23, 2027.

Additionally, Bandai will release “Nifolmation Godzilla Kaiju Gathering Sticker Wafer” on November 16. The product includes 35 types of stickers featuring popular monsters from the 70-year-old film series, including ultra-rare foil-stamped versions. Each pack, priced at 154 yen, contains one sticker and a cocoa cream flavored wafer.
