Goethe-Institut Namibia relocates to new Windhoek premises

The Goethe-Institut Namibia has officially relocated to new premises in Windhoek, moving from its Fidel Castro Street location of over twenty years to 6 Simeon Shixungileni Street. The relocation is intended to expand the institution's reach in language education, literature, arts, and community engagement.

Director Dennis Schroeder described the new space under the theme ‘One Space. Many Stories’, emphasizing that the venue is designed to be an evolving site for encounter and discovery for Namibian, German, and international artists and students. The institute will continue to serve as a primary center for German language learning, supporting schools, teachers, and learners across the country.

The new facility will host a diverse range of upcoming programming, including German language examinations, literary events, theatre, music, and film screenings. Scheduled activities include the DOEK! Literary Festival, European cinema showcases, and collaborative projects such as BookSprint Namibia, which brings together local writers, illustrators, and designers.
