Goethe University Frankfurt offers lifelong learning for seniors

The University of the Third Age (U3L), an association working closely with Goethe University Frankfurt, provides educational opportunities for seniors and lifelong learners. The program allows participants to engage in academic study without requiring a high school diploma (Abitur) or specific age restrictions.

The curriculum is highly diverse, spanning subjects such as astrophysics, artificial intelligence, art history, philosophy, and ancient Egyptian magic. In the summer semester of 2026, the program offered over 100 lectures and seminars led by approximately 80 instructors.

Beyond traditional lectures, the U3L includes seminars, self-organized project groups, and opportunities for older adults to participate in research. The program also offers practical courses in memory training, internet research, and digital learning platforms, aiming to keep participants mentally active and socially connected.
