Goethe University researchers receive ERC Starting Grants

The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded two Starting Grants to researchers at Goethe University Frankfurt to support high-level scientific projects.

Political scientist Dr. Johannes Petry will lead the GEOFINANCE project, which examines how geopolitical shifts impact the global financial order. His research focuses on how geopolitical competition, financial sanctions, and efforts to reduce US dollar dependency change the relationship between states and markets. He will compare major financial powers, including the USA, China, the EU, and Japan.

Additionally, Dr. Seda Koyuncu will conduct research into the aging process in cells and its connection to the development of neurodegenerative diseases.
