GOG Galaxy to receive native Linux client
GOG, the DRM‑free game store owned by CD Projekt Red’s founder, has confirmed that a native Linux version of its Galaxy client is now in development. Joint CEO Krzysztof Papliński announced the project, saying “Linux continues to be one of the topics we hear the most about from our community, and we really appreciate the passion and patience of everyone who’s been asking about it.”
The Linux client will aim to bring the main Galaxy features – library management, automatic updates, cloud saves, friend lists and game tracking – to the platform, although no release date has been set. The move follows the rapid growth of Linux gaming driven by the Steam Deck, Valve’s Proton compatibility layer and broader community demand.
GOG’s effort marks a significant investment in the Linux gaming ecosystem, offering users a dedicated client instead of relying on third‑party tools or compatibility software.
