Gogglebox announces new cast including first member with Down's syndrome

Channel 4 has announced new cast members for the upcoming series 28 of Gogglebox. The new additions include Max, a 33-year-old from North London with Down's syndrome, appearing alongside his mother, Sandy.

Sandy expressed that the casting is an opportunity to provide a positive portrayal of disabilities, stating that it is important for viewers to see that a person with a learning disability can be “smart, opinionated and hilarious.” Max noted his goal is to show other learning-disabled people what they can achieve.

The new lineup also features brothers Steve and Mark from Newcastle. Returning regulars include Jenny, Lee, Pete, and Sophie. The series is scheduled to return to screens on September 4.
