Goiânia ranks second in Center-West competitiveness index

Goiânia has secured second place among municipalities in the Brazilian Center-West region according to the Municipal Competitiveness Ranking by the Centro de Liderança Pública (CLP). The capital rose 27 positions nationally, ranking 68th among 423 cities with populations exceeding 80,000. The ranking evaluates indicators in education, health, public safety, infrastructure, innovation, and environmental sustainability.

Under the administration of Sandro Mabel, the city reported a 719.39% increase in investments compared to the previous year, rising from R$ 35.7 million to R$ 292.9 million. Future investments for 2026 are projected to exceed R$ 1 billion. Key improvements include a 39-position rise in health access and strong performance in education, where the city ranks 27th nationally.

In terms of urban development, Comurg is expanding the 'Projeto Florescer' landscaping initiative, aiming to increase the number of floral sites from 35 to 300 by the end of 2027. Additionally, Goinfra is conducting restoration and duplication works on highways GO-020 and GO-330, which may cause traffic delays of up to 20 minutes for commuters traveling between Goiânia and the southeastern part of the state.
