Goiânia approves urban revitalization and social protection programs

The Goiânia City Council has approved several legislative measures aimed at urban development, social protection, and public transport. The ‘Morar no Centro’ program was approved in a second vote, seeking to revitalize the city's central sector through residential incentives, tax exemptions such as IPTU and ITBI, and financial subsidies for rent to encourage the reoccupation of buildings.

Additionally, the council approved a law establishing the ‘Escudo Feminino’ program. This initiative provides women victims of violence with a progressive scale of protection, including financial aid of up to R$ 5,000 for firearm acquisition after meeting strict requirements such as active protective orders and psychological evaluations.

In the transport sector, the council finalized projects to rename major bus terminals after local football clubs—Vila Nova, Goiás, and Atlético—to stimulate public transit use and attract private investment through potential concessions.

In Ivaiporã, Mayor Carlos Gil launched the ‘Nossa Casa Ivaiporã’ program, an investment of R$ 120 million to provide 965 housing units, including both free and financed homes, to improve local living standards.
