Goiânia Art Déco Festival to open in Brazil

The 9th Goiânia Art Déco Festival and a collective exhibition are set to open at the Museu Goiano Zoroastro Artiaga (MuZa) on August 25. The festival, themed ‘Heritage Education,’ is the only event of its kind in Latin America dedicated to the Art Déco movement.

The collective exhibition, organized in partnership with the Associação Goiana de Artes Visuais (Agav), features 60 works by 50 artists inspired by the French artistic and architectural movement that shaped the urban identity of Goiânia during the 1920s and 1930s. The exhibition will remain on display at MuZa until October 25.

The festival includes a two-day program on August 25 and 26. Activities include a pedagogical city tour of Brazil’s only Art Déco route, drawing workshops, and public lectures involving experts in architecture, urbanism, history, fashion, and tourism. On August 26, programming will continue at the Instituto Federal de Goiás (IFG) – Câmpus Goiânia.
