Goiânia authorities coordinate rescue of Maria Guilhermina artwork

The Court of Justice of the State of Goiás (TJ-GO) and the Goiânia City Hall have begun negotiations to rescue an abandoned artwork by artist Maria Guilhermina. The panel is currently located on a lot in the center of the capital at the intersection of streets 19 and 26.

An administrative process has been opened to evaluate suitable locations for the piece, which may include the Goiânia Art Museum (MAG) or Praça Universitária. The Municipal Secretariat of Culture (Secult) has scheduled a technical visit to assess the conservation status of the work and determine if the entire wall structure or just the tiles can be moved without causing damage.

While the artwork is on private property, the city intends to dialogue with the landowner regarding its removal. The artist has reportedly authorized the transfer of the work.
