Goiânia Autodrome starts full track rebuild, reopening set for November

The Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiânia was closed on Tuesday for the start of a complete track reconstruction. The Secretariat of State for Sport and Leisure (SEEL) says the resurfacing work will be carried out by the same contractor that handled the previous refurbishment, at no additional cost to the state. After the new asphalt is laid, a 60‑day curing period will be observed, moving the expected full reopening to mid‑November.

The closure follows a series of pavement problems reported earlier this year, including a hole that forced a MotoGP round to be shortened in March and driver complaints about loose gravel and deteriorating surface during Stock Car events. The upgraded track is intended to meet the standards required for national and international motor‑sport competitions, with a new MotoGP race already scheduled for 2027.

Cycling training on the circuit is expected to resume in September once the resurfacing is complete, as it imposes minimal wear on the fresh pavement.
