Goiânia businesswoman dies after six facial aesthetic procedures

Andreia Vieira Gaspar, a 51-year-old businesswoman residing in Spain, died in Goiânia, Brazil, following a series of six facial aesthetic procedures. The surgeries, which lasted over eight hours, included deep rhytidoplasty, neck liposuction, and the application of stem cells. The total cost of the procedures was reported to be R$ 118,000.

Following the operation, the patient's family reported complications, including excessive swelling of the tongue and difficulty closing her mouth. A medical report later identified the cause of death as acute thrombosis and pulmonary infarction.

The victim's family has raised concerns regarding medical negligence, noting that the hospital allegedly lacked an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and advanced support ambulance. They also questioned whether pre-operative exams conducted in Spain, which reportedly indicated an active bacterial infection, were properly addressed.

The Public Ministry of Goiás (MP-GO) has requested a police inquiry to investigate the death as potential involuntary manslaughter. The attending physician, otorhinolaryngologist Lessandro Martins, expressed condolences but declined to comment on specific clinical details due to medical confidentiality.
