Goiânia City Council approves renaming of Praça A Terminal

The Goiânia City Council has approved, in a second vote, a project to rename the Praça A Terminal to ‘Terminal Praça A Atlético Clube Goianiense’. The legislation, authored by Council President Romário Policarpo, also authorizes the Metropolitan Collective Transport Network (RMTC) to change the terminal's interior colors to match the club's colors.

Proponents of the bill argue the change recognizes the social, cultural, and sporting importance of Atlético Clube Goianiense. The justification highlights the club's role in social integration, youth athlete training, and its economic impact on local tourism, including hospitality and food services, during national competitions. The terminal's location in the Coimbra sector is noted for its proximity to areas frequently visited by the club's supporters.

The project now awaits sanction or veto by Mayor Sandro Mabel.
