Goiânia Civil Guard to deploy 450 electric shock weapons

The Goiânia Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) is set to begin using 450 X2 model electric shock weapons starting Monday, October 12. These devices will be distributed across 110 patrol vehicles to allow for the temporary immobilization of suspects during high-risk encounters, aiming to reduce the necessity of using firearms.

In addition to the non-lethal weapons, the corporation received 18 high-capacity motorcycles for the Garra group, which specializes in rapid intervention. The fleet was also bolstered with quadricycles for patrolling municipal parks and 118 computers for administrative and intelligence operations. The acquisition of the shock weapons was coordinated through the Vice-Mayor and the Ministry of Justice.
