Goiânia earmarks R$27 million for social assistance in 2026 and plans R$11.4 billion budget for 2027

The municipal government of Goiânia, through the Secretariat for Policies for Women, Social Assistance and Human Rights, announced a projected investment of about R$27 million in social assistance for 2026. The amount represents almost three times the spending of the previous year, with R$14.1 million already committed for the current fiscal year. Secretary Erizania Freitas said the increase shows the administration’s commitment to expanding the protection network for vulnerable families.

In addition, the city’s 2027 budget is forecast at R$11.4 billion, based on the annual budget guidelines approved by Mayor Sandro Mabel. Roughly R$10 billion will cover current operating costs, while R$877 million is allocated to new investments. Expected municipal tax revenues for 2027 total R$4.65 billion, with the ISS and IPTU being the largest contributors. The budget also includes provisions for debt amortisation, interest payments and a contingency reserve.
