Goiânia health unions question municipal medical funding shift

Labor unions in Goiânia are questioning a change in how medical funding is structured for the municipal health network. The union SIMEGO has raised concerns regarding a potential R$ 6 million reduction in funds from the Municipal Treasury, noting that the allocated amount for certain payments was set at R$ 4 million starting in September, compared to a monthly average of R$ 10.17 million between May and July.

SIMEGO warned that this shift could impact medical shifts and service availability, estimating that the difference could represent approximately 2,000 24-hour medical shifts per month. However, the Municipal Health and Finance Secretariats issued a joint statement denying any reduction in resources or services. They clarified that the administration is reorganizing financing sources and utilizing federal, state, and municipal parliamentary amendments intended for primary care.
