Goiânia hosts 31st LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade to demand political representation
The 31st LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade took place in Goiânia, Brazil, centered around the theme “Nothing About Us Without Us — Transforming Visibility into Representativeness.” The event, held at Praça Cívica, featured cultural programming, citizenship services, and musical performances.
Organizers emphasized the need for increased political participation within the community. Marcos Silvério, president of the Association of the LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade of Goiás, stated that the movement aims to encourage engagement in decision-making spaces, particularly in light of the 2026 general elections and a perceived hostile legislative environment. Security forces estimated that approximately 30,000 people participated in the march through the city center.
