Goiânia hosts federal student games and announces intercontinental motorcycle event

Goiânia is currently hosting the 2026 Games of Federal Institutions (JIFs), organized by the Federal Institute of Goiás (IFG) with support from the Ministry of Education. The event brings together approximately 1,200 student-athletes from federal institutes, technological centers, and Colégio Pedro II across Brazil. Competitions include various collective sports such as football, basketball, and volleyball, as well as individual disciplines like athletics, swimming, and judo. The games also feature Paralympic categories, with 44 para-athletes participating.

Additionally, Governor Daniel Vilela has announced the second edition of the FIM Intercontinental Games Goiás. Scheduled for December 11–13 at the Goiânia Ayrton Senna International Autodrome, the event will feature 72 riders from 25 countries across five continents. The competition will include both motorcycle racing and motocross. The governor highlighted the economic potential of such international events, citing a previous MotoGP stage in the city that attracted 150,000 people and generated over R$ 1 billion.
