Goiânia jewelry store robbery leaves four dead
A robbery attempt at a jewelry store in the Campinas sector of Goiânia resulted in four deaths on Tuesday. The incident began when a couple entered the establishment, pretending to be customers interested in wedding rings, before announcing a robbery.
During the crime, one employee attempted to react and was shot in the arm and chest; he later died from his injuries. A second employee engaged in a physical struggle with one of the assailants, disarming him and firing shots at the couple, both of whom died at the scene. The second employee was shot in the leg but is not in life-threatening condition.
Following the robbery, police engaged in a confrontation with a third suspect in the Jardim Novo Mundo neighborhood, resulting in his death. Additionally, an app driver was detained after confessing he was paid R$ 70,000 to act as a getaway driver and provide a distraction by falsely reporting a kidnapping. The State Criminal Investigation Department (DEIC) is leading the ongoing investigation.
