Goiânia launches 24-hour death certificate service

The City of Goiânia has inaugurated a 24-hour civil registry service station at the Central de Óbitos in Setor Aeroporto. Starting Tuesday, August 18, the service allows families to obtain death certificates on-site outside of regular notary hours.

The service is provided free of charge from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM the following day, as well as on weekends and holidays. This initiative was developed through a partnership between the Goiânia City Hall, the Corregedoria, and the Court of Justice of the State of Goiás (TJGO).

Previously, families had to travel to specific notary offices on duty during off-hours. The new model centralizes the process at the Central de Óbitos. During standard business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM), procedures remain at the responsible notary office, but after-hours requests will be handled directly at the new station.
