Goiânia launches Bus Rapid Service (BRS) transport model

Goiânia Mayor Sandro Mabel and Goiás Governor Daniel Vilela have launched the Bus Rapid Service (BRS), a new public transport model designed to increase travel speeds by 30%. The system will utilize priority lanes, synchronized traffic lights, and electronic monitoring to improve efficiency.

The implementation is scheduled to begin on Avenida T-63, with full operations expected to start in January 2027. The project aims to establish 300 kilometers of specialized lines across 24 corridors. As part of the launch, nine new buses featuring air conditioning, low floors, and accessibility features were delivered.

Governor Vilela confirmed that the modernization will not result in fare increases, with standard fares remaining at R$ 4.30 and half-fares at R$ 2.15.
