Goiânia launches free tire collection program to combat disease vectors
The City of Goiânia, through the Municipal Environmental Agency (Amma), is conducting a series of free tire collection drives throughout October. The initiative aims to prevent irregular waste disposal and eliminate breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito and other disease vectors.
The collection program serves residents, tire repair shops, mechanical workshops, and large-scale generators. Scheduled activities will take place in four regions: the southeast (Parque Atheneu on October 8), the northwest (Jardim Curitiba IV on October 16), the west (Residencial Goiânia Viva on October 22), and the north (Urias Magalhães on October 29).
Collected materials will be sent for environmentally appropriate disposal with support from Reciclanip, an entity managed by the National Association of the Tire Industry (ANIP). During the events, Amma technicians will provide guidance on conscious disposal and reverse logistics regulations.
