Goiânia unveils new one‑way traffic system for avenues T‑10 and T‑55

The Municipal Traffic Engineering Secretariat (SET) of Goiânia began operating a binary one‑way system on avenues T‑10 and T‑55 on Saturday, June 13. Avenue T‑10 now runs single‑direction from Avenue T‑3 toward Avenue 85, while Avenue T‑55 runs from Avenue 85 toward Avenue T‑3. The re‑configuration creates four free‑flow lanes per corridor, adds a “green‑wave” traffic‑signal synchronization and a right‑turn‑free movement for drivers coming from T‑3 onto T‑10.

Pedestrian safety was also upgraded: all crosswalks along the three avenues were repaved, a protective island was installed on T‑10, and new visibility measures were introduced. SET secretary Tarcísio Abreu said, “Nos preocupamos não apenas com a fluidez dos veículos, mas também com a segurança de quem caminha pela região…” The intersection of T‑55 with T‑30 now uses a “English hand” round‑about pattern, explained traffic‑engineer Marco Antônio Porfírio: “With the English hand, vehicles move more organized around the plaza, increasing capacity.”

Parking restrictions were imposed on all affected streets to preserve the new flow, including bans on stopping and parking along the full length of T‑55 and specific limits on T‑30, T‑3 and T‑10.
