Goiânia launches R$ 825,000 pet sterilization and veterinary program

The Municipal Environmental Agency (Amma) in Goiânia has partnered with the Efatá Institute to provide veterinary services for 1,285 dogs and cats. Supported by an investment of R$ 825,000, the initiative prioritizes low-income families registered in CadÚnico and individuals associated with animal protection institutions.

The program, scheduled to run for up to 12 months, includes sterilization, consultations, pre-operative exams, microchipping, post-operative medication, and follow-up care. To manage logistics, the Efatá Institute will use a WhatsApp pre-registration system to identify high-demand regions via heat maps. Services are expected to begin in January 2027 using mobile or temporary veterinary structures.
