Goiânia launches security program with 1,800 high-resolution cameras

The city of Goiânia has launched the ‘Goiânia + Segura’ program, which includes the installation of 1,800 high-resolution cameras to enhance public safety. The initiative aims to create a technological network for crime prevention by integrating public devices with equipment from private properties, with a long-term goal of reaching 10,000 connected cameras.

To support this expansion, the city will implement over 800 kilometers of fiber optic cable to connect 626 public buildings, facilitating data transmission across different regions. A new Operational Center is planned to become functional by 2028, serving as a hub for managing the network and processing captured images.

Currently, 220 cameras are already in operation. The program also involves modernizing the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) fleet with 111 new vehicles and increasing personnel. The monitoring efforts will be coordinated with GCM patrols in high-traffic areas such as parks, squares, and transit terminals.
