Goiânia maintains RSV immunization for high-risk children

The City of Goiânia, through its Municipal Health Secretariat, is maintaining the administration of antibodies against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) for high-risk children until August 31. The program targets children under two years of age who present specific comorbidities, including congenital heart disease, chronic lung disease related to prematurity, Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, and severe neuromuscular diseases.

The immunization service is available daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Municipal Vaccination Center in Setor Pedro Ludovico. To access the treatment, guardians must provide the child's identification (birth certificate, National Health Card, or CPF) and a medical report or prescription containing the clinical indication or CID-10 code, signed and stamped by a physician.

While this seasonal strategy concludes in August, the availability of the antibody remains continuous throughout the year for premature infants. The initiative follows Ministry of Health guidelines to reduce severe cases of bronchiolitis and pneumonia, noting that RSV is responsible for approximately 75% of acute viral bronchiolitis cases in this age group.
