Goiânia metropolitan ring road project to boost regional logistics

The construction of the Contorno Leste, a new 44-kilometer ring road for the Goiânia metropolitan region, is underway to divert heavy traffic from the urban stretches of the BR-153 highway. With an estimated investment exceeding R$ 1 billion, the project aims to alleviate congestion and facilitate smoother transit for vehicles traveling toward northern and southwestern Goiás, as well as Minas Gerais and São Paulo.

The new infrastructure is expected to drive significant economic and urban development across Goiânia, Aparecida de Goiânia, and Senador Canedo. By providing a dual-carriageway alternative, the ring road is projected to handle approximately 22,000 vehicles daily by 2035. This shift is anticipated to attract new logistics hubs, distribution centers, and industrial plants seeking strategic access to major transport corridors.

In addition to the regional impact, local municipalities are implementing complementary works. Aparecida de Goiânia is executing its own infrastructure projects, including new trenches, viaducts, and bridges, to integrate with the new road network. Experts suggest these improvements will enhance industrial competitiveness by reducing transport uncertainties, improving delivery predictability, and lowering operational costs for companies.
