Goiânia opens second lateral lane of Avenida Leste-Oeste

Goiânia Mayor Sandro Mabel has opened the second lateral lane of Avenida Leste-Oeste, specifically the section crossing Avenida Castelo Branco in the Setor Esplanada do Anicuns. This completion allows for two-way traffic on the new road connection.

The project aims to redistribute traffic and improve circulation in the western region. Officials expect the new configuration to remove approximately 40% of vehicles currently using Avenida Consolação. The opening of this lane, which facilitates the Bairro–Centro direction, eliminates a previous detour that added nearly 15 minutes to commuters' travel times.

The project was implemented in two stages, with the first lateral lane (Centro–Bairro) having been released on August 7. Municipal Secretary of Traffic Engineering, Tarcísio Abreu, noted that the synchronized traffic lights and improved flow are intended to reduce congestion on major arterial roads.
