Goiânia records over 6,300 new business openings in August

Goiânia recorded the opening of 6,368 new companies in August 2026, representing a 13.3% increase compared to the same period last year. According to data from the Municipal Secretariat of Development, Industry, Commerce, Agriculture, and Services (Sedicas), Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs) accounted for 73% of the new registrations.

In addition to MEIs, the city saw the opening of 1,224 micro-enterprises, 251 small businesses, and 257 medium and large companies. The most prominent sectors for new businesses included sales promotion, administrative support, road freight transport, rapid delivery services, and food preparation for home consumption.

Thais Aparecida Santos, superintendent of Economic Development at Sedicas, stated that the growth indicates a favorable economic environment driven by a strong labor market and positive growth prospects. The surge in business openings is also linked to entrepreneurs preparing for increased consumer demand during the final months of the year.
