Goiânia upgrades plazas and roadways for anniversary celebrations and pilgrimage
The Goiânia municipal government, through the Companhia de Urbanização de Goiânia (Comurg), is carrying out extensive revitalisation work in the historic Campinas neighbourhood ahead of its 216th anniversary. The effort includes pruning trees, maintaining lawns, cleaning flower beds, repainting curbs and planting thousands of ground‑cover seedlings in several local squares.
Simultaneously, Comurg and the Limpa Gyn consortium have intensified cleaning and maintenance on the GO‑060 Rodovia dos Romeiros to support the 2026 Romaria do Divino Pai Eterno pilgrimage. Ten workers are assigned to daily sweeping, waste collection, brush clearing and curb painting along key avenues, with 50 waste drums placed for organic and recyclable materials and a night‑time mechanical sweeper operating to keep the route safe for thousands of pilgrims.
