Goiás and Paraíba among Brazil’s highest‑paid states for new teachers

A study by the Movimento Profissão Docente, compiled by the Centro de Liderança Pública, placed the state of Goiás sixth in Brazil’s ranking of initial salaries for public‑school teachers, with a starting pay of R$ 7,160.49 including benefits. The neighbouring state of Paraíba ranked seventh, offering R$ 6,944.09 to teachers beginning their careers.

The ranking, released on 6 July, shows Mato Grosso do Sul at the top with R$ 13,007.12, while the lowest salaries were recorded in Rio de Janeiro (R$ 4,867.77). The survey highlights regional variations in remuneration structures and career plans across Brazil’s state education systems.
