Goiás commerce and agribusiness generate over R$ 416 billion and create hundreds of thousands of jobs in 2024

In 2024 the commercial sector of Goiás recorded R$ 295.3 billion in gross resale revenue, employing 381,900 people across 79,700 firms. Wholesale accounted for the largest share of revenue (R$ 153 billion), followed by retail (R$ 110.4 billion) and vehicle trade (R$ 31.9 billion). The sector paid R$ 11.8 billion in wages and other remuneration.

The state’s agribusiness produced a gross value of production of R$ 121.37 billion, a 20.4% increase year‑on‑year, and employed about 1.1 million workers (28.6% of Goiás’s employed population). Financial cooperatives supplied R$ 3.14 billion in rural credit, representing 10.8% of all rural credit in the state and supporting small‑ and medium‑scale producers.

Together, commerce and agribusiness contributed more than R$ 416 billion to Goiás’s economy in 2024, reinforcing the state’s leading role in job creation and economic output within Brazil’s Central‑West region.
