Goiás faces extreme heat and low humidity

Goiás is experiencing intense heat and low humidity, with temperatures expected to reach up to 39°C in the North and West regions. The Centro de Informações Meteorológicas e Hidrológicas de Goiás (Cimehgo) reports that an atmospheric block is maintaining sunny conditions, causing rapid temperature rises throughout the day.

In Porangatu, temperatures are projected to hit 39°C, while other regions such as the Southwest, East, Central, and South may see highs between 36°C and 37°C. Relative humidity levels are expected to drop to critical levels of 15% during the afternoons. In the capital, Goiânia, temperatures are forecasted to range between 18°C and 36°C.

The combination of high temperatures, dry air, and wind has increased the risk of wildfires. Approximately 120 municipalities are under critical conditions due to the '30-30-30' factor, which identifies high risk when temperatures exceed 30°C, humidity falls below 30%, and winds are strong enough to accelerate flame propagation.

While a cold front may bring some instability and isolated rainfall to the Southwest and Southeast regions between Tuesday (25) and Thursday (27), meteorologists warn that these showers may not be sufficient to end the current dry period.
