Goiás fatal accident investigation involves missing money dispute
A fatal head-on collision on the BR-414 highway in Cocalzinho de Goiás has sparked a dispute regarding missing funds. The accident, which occurred on a Friday night, involved a Ford Ranger and a limestone-laden truck. The collision resulted in the deaths of 29-year-old businessman Wilker Renato Almeida da Silva and his two daughters, aged 8 and 4.
A conflict has emerged between the victim's family and authorities over the amount of cash present in the vehicle. The brother of one of the victims claims that a suitcase containing R$ 1 million disappeared following the crash. However, Delegate Carlos Alfama of the Cocalzinho de Goiás Homicide Investigation Group contested this version, stating that approximately R$ 67,000 was recovered from the wreckage.
Authorities noted that the vehicle was so severely damaged that responders had to saw through the structure to access the interior. The recovery of the cash was reportedly witnessed by Federal Highway Police and Ecovias employees. The driver of the truck involved in the collision left the scene before emergency teams arrived and has not yet been identified.
