Goiás gears up for Copa Sesc 2026 and first national futsal tournament participation
On September 29, Sesc Goiás convened sports federation leaders and local officials at the Fecomércio auditorium in Goiânia to present the planning for the 2026 Copa Sesc. The multi‑sport competition will run in September‑October across five municipalities – Goiânia, Anápolis, Caldas Novas, Itumbiara and Jataí – featuring amateur disciplines, digital events and e‑sports. The opening ceremony will include volleyball legend Dante Amaral. Marcelo Baiocchi Carneiro, president of the Fecomércio Sesc Senac Goiás system, said the cup “already forms part of Goiás sport history and returns even stronger,” while regional director Leopoldo Veiga Jardim highlighted the need for federation cooperation.
Separately, the Projeto Escola Esperança from Itumbiara has been invited to the Special Division of the Brazil Under‑20 Futsal Cup in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, after another team withdrew. The tournament runs from August 10 to 16, marking the first appearance of an Itumbiara‑based team in a national futsal competition. The team will face clubs from Pernambuco, the Federal District, Maranhão and the host state, aiming to advance to the semifinals.
