Goiás government invests R$ 14.4 million in Parque da Serrinha

The Government of Goiás has announced a R$ 14.4 million investment to revitalize Parque da Serrinha Jornalista Jaime Câmara in Goiânia. Funded by the State Environmental Fund, the project aims to transform the area into a leisure and tourism complex. The park has been closed for works since September, with an expected completion timeframe of 12 months.

The revitalization plan includes the recovery of degraded Cerrado areas and the creation of new spaces for sports and tourism. The site will be divided into a base and a hilltop area. The hilltop will feature a 360-degree viewpoint of Goiânia, nature trails, and the Museu do Cerrado, which will focus on environmental education. The lower area will include walking tracks, cycle paths, playgrounds, an outdoor gym, a pet area, and kiosks.

To address historical issues with degradation and fires, the project includes the planting of 5,000 native seedlings with maintenance scheduled through 2030. Additionally, the ‘Fogo Zero’ plan will implement preventive firebreaks, heat focus monitoring, and an agile response system to combat seasonal wildfires. The park's iconic concrete tower is also slated to receive artistic intervention and special lighting.
