Goiás industry leaders call for clear bioenergy regulations

Industrial leaders from Goiás are calling for clear regulatory frameworks for the bioenergy sector in anticipation of the new federal government. These demands were a central theme at the 26th DATAGRO International Sugar and Ethanol Conference held in São Paulo.

André Rocha, president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Goiás (Fieg) and executive president of both the Ethanol Manufacturing Industry Union (Sifaeg) and the Sugar Manufacturing Industry Union (Sifaçúcar) of Goiás, highlighted the sector's complex challenges. These include climate change, artificial intelligence, and the energy transition.

One specific area of interest is the potential use of ethanol in maritime transport, which requires regulatory advancements to expand its application. Industry representatives emphasized that the definition of public policies and rules is critical for business decision-making, long-term planning, and attracting new investments.
