Goiás legislature proposes tribute to late deputy Amilton Filho

Bruno Peixoto, president of the Legislative Assembly of Goiás (Alego), has proposed renaming the main lobby of the Palácio Maguito Vilela to the ‘Saguão Cultural Deputado Amilton Filho’. The proposal aims to honor the memory of state deputy Amilton Filho, who died on September 26 at the age of 41 following a traffic accident on the BR-050 highway near Cristalina.

The initiative includes the installation of a commemorative sign and a bust of the late deputy. Amilton Filho was serving his second term and was a candidate for reelection at the time of his death. Peixoto described the tribute as a way to recognize a career defined by dedication to the state of Goiás.

Andréa Rezende, the president of the Anápolis City Council and sister of Amilton Filho, expressed gratitude for the proposal, noting the deputy's fondness for the legislative space. Following his passing, his wife, Carol, assumed his candidacy to continue his political project.
