Goiás municipalities workshop focuses on traffic municipalization

The Associação Goiana de Municípios (AGM), in partnership with the Departamento Estadual de Trânsito de Goiás (Detran-GO), held a workshop for mayors and municipal managers to discuss the municipalization of traffic management in Goiás.

The event aimed to outline the necessary steps for cities to integrate into the National Traffic System (SNT). Participants received guidance on various aspects of traffic management, including enforcement, technological systems, statistics, traffic education, signaling, and road engineering.

Odair José Soares, president of Detran-GO, stated that municipalization allows cities to develop their own enforcement, education, and engineering actions while receiving technical support from Detran-GO. This integration can also provide municipalities with increased access to resources for road safety. Currently, fewer than 30% of municipalities in Goiás have municipalized their traffic management, highlighting a significant challenge for regional administrators.
