Goiás police investigate murder and severe assault cases involving local businessmen

Police in the Brazilian state of Goiás are pursuing two violent criminal cases. In Águas Lindas, a 29‑year‑old entrepreneur, Rebeca Sousa de Melo, was stabbed to death after a debt dispute involving a neighbor and his companion. The suspects, Breno César de Sousa Rodrigues and Maria Clara Noronha de Oliveira Miranda Carvalho, remain fugitives and have temporary arrest warrants.

In Pirenópolis, businessman Orion Paranhos was indicted for violently assaulting a woman experiencing homelessness, causing her to lose her spleen. He faces charges of gravely serious bodily injury, psychological violence and damage, and remains in preventive detention while prosecutors consider filing formal charges.
