Goiás private security market expands through technology

The private security market in Goiás is expanding through the adoption of new technologies and partnerships with public authorities. Despite a significant decrease in crime rates—including a 50% drop in residential thefts and an 87.4% reduction in vehicle thefts between 2016 and 2025—demand for private services remains high for specific sectors such as shopping malls, banks, and residential condominiums.

The electronic security segment generated R$ 500 million last year, with approximately 1,200 companies operating in the state. The sector employs between 7,000 and 10,000 direct workers, reaching up to 15,000 when including autonomous professionals and the distribution chain. Currently, there are 176 armed surveillance companies registered with the Federal Police, employing 21,500 active guards.

Growth is being driven by integration with government initiatives, such as the ‘IA contra o Crime’ program. This state program involves an investment of R$ 304.8 million to purchase 5,012 cameras across more than 200 municipalities. Industry leaders note that private electronic security systems complement public safety by producing evidence and sharing information with police forces, though a lack of qualified labor remains a primary challenge for the sector.
