Goiás reveals voter registration discrepancies and gender shifts

A demographic analysis of Goiás reveals significant discrepancies in both gender ratios and voter registration. According to 2022 IBGE Census data, Goiânia has the highest proportion of women in the state, with a sex ratio of 90 men for every 100 women, meaning women comprise approximately 52.6% of the capital's population.

Separately, a comparison between Superior Electoral Court (TSE) voter data and IBGE population estimates shows that 89 municipalities in Goiás—representing 36.2% of the state's cities—have more registered voters than residents. These 89 towns, all with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants, have a combined voter pool of 335,534 against an estimated population of 292,814, creating an excess of 42,720 voters.

Davinópolis shows the largest proportional gap, with 221 voters for every 100 residents. In contrast, Ouvidor holds the largest difference in absolute numbers. Experts suggest these discrepancies may stem from migration patterns, population underreporting, or electoral registration errors, raising concerns regarding political representation and the allocation of public resources.
