Goiás State Launches WhatsApp Service for Driver’s License and ID Renewals

The government of Goiás, Brazil, has opened a WhatsApp channel that lets residents request several public services directly through the messaging app. Users can add the number (62) 3201‑8700 to their contacts and, using an AI‑driven assistant, renew their Carteira Nacional de Habilitação (CNH) or obtain a second copy of the Carteira de Identidade Nacional (CIN). The service also provides access to environmental licensing queries, an ombudsman portal, and other AI‑based assistance.

The platform integrates systems from multiple state secretariats—including Science, Technology and Innovation; Administration; Environment and Sustainable Development; the General Comptroller’s Office; and the Department of Transit (Detran‑GO). When a request cannot be completed entirely online, the assistant schedules any required in‑person steps and sends status notifications. The initiative targets roughly 100,000 monthly ID requests and 45,000 CNH requests, aiming to streamline public service delivery.
