Gol airline to reduce or suspend flights due to rising fuel costs
Gol Linhas Aéreas has announced plans to reduce or suspend several flight routes starting in February 2027. The airline cited a doubling in the price of aviation kerosene (QAV), which now accounts for approximately 40% of the company's operational costs.
Specific routes identified for suspension include Campina Grande to Salvador, Salvador to Aracaju, Fortaleza to Foz do Iguaçu, and Rio de Janeiro (Galeão) to Ilhéus. While the airline did not provide a full list of all affected destinations, it stated that route planning is a continuous process based on operational needs without regional prioritization.
To assist affected travelers, Gol will offer alternatives such as connecting flights or utilizing its more than 60 codeshare and interline agreements with other carriers. Passengers who purchased tickets directly through Gol can request rescheduling, credit, or refunds via the company's service centers. Those using miles must manage their reservations through Smiles, while those who booked via travel agencies should contact their respective agencies.
