Gol suspends multiple domestic and international routes due to fuel costs

Gol Linhas Aéreas has announced the suspension or reduction of at least 14 domestic and international routes starting in February 2027. The decision is driven by a sharp increase in aviation fuel (QAV) prices, which have doubled and now account for approximately 40% of the company's operational costs. The fuel price surge is linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

International routes affected include connections from Brasília and Belém to Miami and Orlando in the United States, as well as flights from Rio de Janeiro to Montevideo, Uruguay, and Asunción, Paraguay, and from São Paulo to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Additionally, Fortaleza will lose direct flights to Orlando, Foz do Iguaçu, and Montevideo.

Domestically, the airline will cut several connections, including routes from Salvador to Aracaju, Campina Grande, and Petrolina, as well as flights from Rio de Janeiro to Ilhéus and from São Paulo (Congonhas) to Ribeirão Preto and Palmas. Gol stated that its network planning is a dynamic process and will continue to offer connectivity through codeshare agreements and partner airlines.
